KATHMANDU, Nov 16: Nepal Police has said that apart from sporadic incidents during Tihar, criminal incidents across the country were below the ‘normal’ mark. According to Central Police Spokesperson DIG Kuber Kadayat, there have been fewer criminal incidents during Tihar this time than in the past, but road accidents have increased.
"On the whole, no significant rise in criminal incidents was seen throughout Tihar. Even though there was a small incident, there was no big 'gang fight' like in the past. However, it is estimated that the number of road accidents increased this time; the exact statistics will be published within a few days," said DIG Kadayat.

The police estimate that there was an increase in road accidents across the country during Tihar this time. There have been some big fire incidents during Tihar. More people have been arrested for gambling this year than in previous years.
Spokesperson Kadayat said that since Tihar is being celebrated till today (Thursday) and data collection is being done across the country, the details of Tihar events will be available within a day or two.
