Three arrested for sending bogus messages

KATHMANDU, May 4: Three persons were arrested on Monday for texting bogus and imaginary messages on mobile phones at a time when the country is going through a traumatic period following an unprecedented loss incurred in the 7.8 magnitude earthquake.

The Metropolitan Crime Division arrested Gauri Magar, 18, of Danusha, Fulmaya Tamang, 22, of Sindhuli and Raju Magar, 22, of Udayapur for texting illusionary messages. The trio used the Ncell sim card to send the message in which the sender was promised Rs 900 to Rs 200 in bonus if the message was transferred to at least 15 new individuals.

The Crime Division made the arrest at the Machegaun of the capital city and interrogation is underway as to the motive that led the youths to send such messages. RSS
