Seventeen-year-old Ranajit Pun and 15-year-old Durga Pun of Nuwakot VDC-1 of the district, who were in love, were found dead hanging with a piece of cloth from a tree, police inspector Yubraj Khanda of the Rukum District Police Office said. [break]
No concrete reason for the suicide is known as yet. An initial investigation, however, has shown that the couple took the extreme step after the girl’s family decided to marry her off to another man.
Both of them were studying at the local Himalaya Higher Secondary School in Kholagaun.
On being informed by locals, a police team from the Kholagaun Area Police Office has reached the incident site. Police are investigating the case.
