Team announced for Hughes tribute match

KATHMANDU, April 7: Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on Tuesday announced the squads for the 63-overs Phillip Hughes Memorial Tribute Match scheduled for April 11 at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground.

Organizing a press meet in Kathmandu on Tuesday, CAN announced Team Blue and Team Red as well as the final squads for both the teams. Former national team skipper Binod Das, who announced his retirement from all format of cricket on Tuesday, will be the skipper of Team Blue.


The Team Blue also features current skipper of the national team Paras Khadka, Anil Mandal, Binod Bhandari, Shakti Gauchan, Pradeep Airee, Karan KC, Naresh Budhayer, Avinash Karn, Bhuban Karki, Mahesh Chhetri, Amit Shrestha, Rahul BK and Ram Naresh Giri.

Likewise, Team Red will be captained by Ryan Carters, an Australian cricketer who represents New South Wales in the domestic cricket. He has played 30 First-class matches scoring 1803 runs in Australia. Former Australian Test player Matthew Thomas Gray Elliot, who appeared in 21 test matches and scored 1172 runs, is also named in the squad along with former Australian U-19 player Tim Anderson.

Sharad Vesawkar, Gyanendra Malla, Subash Khakurel, Basanta Regmi, Prithu Baskota, Siddhant Lohani, Sompal Kami, Jitendra Mukhiya, Rajesh Pulami Rajbir Singh and Prajwal Shahi are also in the Team Red squad.
