Phillip Hughes’ tribute match today

KATHMANDU, April 11: Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) informed Friday that it is all set to organize the 63-over Phillip Hughes Memorial Tribute Match on Saturday at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground.

CAN Acting President Deepak Koirala said during a press conference that the event will be an opportunity to link Nepali cricket with Australian cricket and this event will be fruitful for whole Nepali cricket fraternity.Meanwhile, the International Cricket Council (ICC) Global Development Manager Tim Anderson, who is a former Australia U-19 captain, said that the event is a wonderful occasion to pay tribute to cricketer Philip Hughes, who died late last year after being struck by a bouncer during a domestic cricket match in Australia.

Likewise, Ryan Carters, an Australian cricketer representing New South Wales, who will lead Team Red during the tribute match, said that he was excited about the match.

Two teams-Team Blue and Team Red-have been formed for the match where Team Blue will be captained by former Nepali national team captain Binod Das.
