BANEPA, Feb 7: Primary school teachers on Sunday boycotted their special exams, equivalent to grade 12, in Banepa after alleged misbehavior with female examinees by invigilators.

They even pelted stones at police in course of protest against the misbehavior leaving police constable Madhav Rayamajhi injured and breaking four window panes of the school. Teacher Laxmi Upreti of Dolakha sustained injuries in police´s baton charge.

One-thousand-eighty primary teachers of community schools in Kavre, Sindhupalchowk and Dolakha districts are appearing in the exams after 10-month training to make them eligible for diploma studies as per the decision of Higher Secondary Education Board.

The teachers had complained that lack of light during load-shedding caused problems for aged teachers on the first day of exams on Friday.

They had also complained that three examinees were kept on a single bench meant for nursery students on Friday. They said they are having problem for lodging and food in Banepa as teachers of three districts were kept in a single exam center.

The irate teachers have also threatened to padlock Namo Buddha FM of Kavre for disseminating news in a defamatory way accusing the teachers of boycotting the exams for not getting to cheat. They even threatened the local journalists not to write anything against them.
