The irate cadres of the poll-opposing parties attacked a dozen cadres and leaders including Maden while they were sleeping at Mele VDC -2 at 3 AM today after they snatched away the weapons from the deputed security personnel. [break]
A dozen cadres were injured including Maden in the attack. The assailants had fled the scene after the attack. Maden along with the cadres had reached Mele VDC for the election campaign.
The condition of candidate Maden is critical according to UCPN (Maoist) Taplejung District Office Secretary Sagarmani Paudel.
Five security personnel had been deployed for the security of the candidate.
