Chief of Taplejung District Hospital Surya Bahadur Gurung has referred Maden to a better-equipped hospital saying that his injured head and backbone need to be x-rayed while there are no such facilities at the hospital. [break]
Maden, who was admitted at the district hospital on Friday evening, has sustained injures to his head, backbone and thigh.
CPN-Maoist cadres had assaulted UCPN (Maoist) cadres including Maden, Election Publicity Committee Joint Coordinator Kaji Bhattarai and Youth Communist League (YCL) In-charge Tara Bhattarai during the election campaign in Mehele VDC-2 in the district, after taking security personnel under control, at the wee hours of Friday.
Meanwhile, the UCPN (Maoist) has condemned the attack in a press statement and has urged the administration to take stringent action against the assailants without delay.
A team of police reinforced by Nepal Army personnel under the command of an inspector has been deployed in search of the culprits from Tellok Area Police Station, said DSP Govinda Prasad Acharya.
