Environmental problems are widespread and every countries are facing these problems. Problems ranging from climate change to environmental degradation are observed in the earth. Among other problems climate change is regarded as the worst environmental problem. Some years ago even scientists were not agreed about the climate change. Now there is not confusion about the climate change. Climate change impacts are evident and every creature in this earth is affected from this problem.
Changing environment and climate of the earth could be the normal process if it is predictable and gradual. Global warming and climate change in these days is beyond normality. Human activities are the main cause of the global climate change as most of the scientists agreed. Global warming and climate change is caused by the presence of excessive greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Rapid industrial development without considering the environmental aspect is responsible for producing greenhouse gases in large amount. The developed and countries should take the responsibility of this. For fulfilling their need and interest they caused the undesirable change in the global climate which endangers the lives of all creatures.
It had been already too late when the global community became aware about the climate change. It could be managed more easily if it was taken seriously very ago. United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC) is constituted in 1992 to address the problem of climate change. After then several researches are carried out to generate knowledge about the causes and impacts of climate change. The researches show that islands and mountainous countries are the most vulnerable countries. Rising sea level is the great danger for the island countries. Likewise mountainous communities have problem in sustaining their livelihood. The ecosystem is unbalanced where they live and they feel unsecure from the glacial lake outburst flood. The problem is seen in every aspect of the livelihood. Every aspects like forests and biodiversity, health, agriculture etc are effected from climate change.
There are mainly two strategies of coping the negative impacts of climate change. Two options are available for us whether to adapt the climate change or mitigate this. Mitigating the climate change is the complex task which requires the global effort. It is the best way but it takes long time even we started to stop producing greenhouse gases from today. Forest conservation is identified as one of the effective and efficient method for reducing the amount of carbon in the atmosphere. One thing is important here that conserving and planting forest in only some part of the earth is not effective if we have to mitigate the climate change. Forest destruction and degradation emits around the 20 percent greenhouse gases. From forest conservation we can mitigate the climate change from two ways. One is not emitting the greenhouse gases which are emitted from the process of forest destruction and forest degradation. Other is sinking or storing the carbon from the atmosphere.

Mitigation is the long term process so for coping with climate change immediately adapting the impacts of climate change is theforemost task. Developed and rich countries can easily adapt this but the underdeveloped and poor countries do not have such the technology and money for this. Although poor countries are not responsible for climate change they have to face more problem than the developed and rich countries. Developed countries should provide assistance to the underdeveloped and developing countries for adapting the impacts of climate change. Awareness level of the people of underdeveloped is also low so that they can not fully understand about the impacts of climate change. For adopting the negative impacts of climate change awareness should be created about the causes and impacts of climate change. Different governmental and non-governmental organizations are working for creating the awareness which is the commendable feat.
While making the policy and decisions about the climate change, active participation of the vulnerable community is necessary. Participation of them ensures that program and policy are effectively designed to identify the effective and right method of adaptation. Today’s practice does not have the trend of involving the members of such vulnerable community in the forums about the climate change. The program thus designed could be ineffective as the real problem of these communities could be better known by them as compared to the policy makers. In the coming days this practice needs to be improved and involvement of them should be secured while making policies about the climate change adaptation.
