According to the organizers, the award will be given on the basis of creativity, commitment and responsibility shown towards the society apart from targeting profit.[break]
Speaking at a press briefing organized in the capital on Sunday, organizers of the event said the event is the first-ever award to recognize social entrepreneurs creating value for people, planet and profit. The jury is selecting the winners from 66 applications received from different parts of the country. The award consists of a combination of financial, networking, mentoring and PR support.
Sanjiv Keshava, managing director of Surya Nepal, said the company will make it an annual event with an objective to recognizing and felicitating the unsung heroes of the business world.
Founding Director of Change Fusion Nepal Luna Shrestha Thakur said the vision of the event is to highlight the ventures of the winners along with the impact they have made.
Besides the award ceremony, the event will feature a seminar on November 18 and 19 in which experts will interact with young entrepreneurs and visitors on how to access finance, develop business plans, among others. The other event being organized is titled ´Bazar´ where entrepreneurs can showcase their venture and share ideas and build networks.
Twenty selected social entrepreneurs will showcase their ideas in the Bazaar and will attend the seminar where entrepreneurs and experts will share their stories. The two-day of Bazar and Seminar are supported by Synervate and Nepal Infopark.
Surya Nepal has created a community initiative through Asha under its corporate social responsibility initiative, which has already helped more than 300 women obtain jobs through skill development training.
