KATHMANDU, Dec 11: Constituent Assembly (CA) Chairman Subas Nembang has repeated his claim that the CA will be able to complete the task of constitution drafting within the extended deadline.

Nembang argued that the constitution writing was delayed earlier due to dispute among the major political parties over whether the peace process should be completed prior to constitution making or vice versa.

While Nepali Congress (NC) and other non-Maoist parties had been insisting that the task of peace process be expedited, the Maoist leaders were for taking both the tasks forward simultaneously.

"That dispute has been settled and the political parties have agreed in writing to conclude the peace process first. There has been tangible progress in advancing the peace process as well," Nembang said at a function organized by the society of parliamentary affairs reporters at Babarmahal on Sunday.

He said that the work at the dispute resolution subcommittee and the constitutional committee was halted for months during the controversy in th past.

"Now the political course has taken a right direction and I am fully confident that we will be able to follow the new calendar of events," he added.
