Dutta was dissatisfied with party Chairman Upendra Yadav over the selection of ministers from the party and had declined to take oath of office and secrecy even 19 days after his nomination as the state minister. [break]
´´The party had set four criteria for choosing ministers. But Chairman Upendra Yadav did not take into account these criteria while picking up ministers. That´s why I have decided to tender my resignation,´´ Dutta told Republica.
"I would have submitted my resignation to the prime minister on Sunday itself but could not do so because of banda,´´ he further said. He said he will fax his resignation to the prime minister if there was banda on Monday as well.
As per the criteria set by the MPRF, the prospective ministerial candidates must have taken part in Madhes movements, be disciplined and loyal to the party and preferably a new, competent face. The criteria also required the candidates to have sound educational background.
However, Dutta said, the ministers were chosen in a way that would humiliate senior leaders in the party. ´´Leaders junior to me have been appointed full ministers while I have been assigned the post of a state minister," he said. He alleged that MPRF lacked internal democracy.
So far, MPRF has failed to name one minister and three state ministers that has been allocated to the party.
Deputy Prime Minster and Minister for Foreign Affairs Upendra Yadav, Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives Harinarayan Chaudhari and Minister for Labor and Transportation Management Mohammad Istiyak Rai from the party have already joined Jhalanath Khanal-led government.
