According to the calendar, district level competitions will begin on November 17 and end on December 15. The top teams and the winners of the district level competitions will vie at the regional level competitions, which are scheduled to be held from January 15 to 29. Players selected to represent their region will undergo closed camp training from February 16 to 22 and finally compete in the national games.
NSC has planned to introduce College and University teams as a new departmental team along with Nepal Police, Armed Police Force (APF), Nepal Army and PLA Club of Maoists combatants. Nepal Army had boycotted the events participated by the PLA Club players during the Fifth National Games held in Kathmandu three years ago.
"I think there will be no such controversy this time around since the government has taken a policy level decision," said Yuvaraj Lama, the member secretary of the NSC.
The Sixth National Games will have the slogan "Sports for Health; Sports for Nation" .
Meanwhile, the NSC passed the tournament and financial directives for the National Games. "It´s not only for the Sixth National Games, but for a long term," said Lama.
The tournament directive states that the role of District Sports Development Committees and Regional Sports Development Committees in detail. The directive states that NSC can interfere and form separate tournament organizing committee if the aforementioned committees court controversy. The directive also includes the details of players´ registration process, monitoring system and the flags of five regions in the National Games.

Likewise, financial directive includes details of allownces to be provided to players, coaches and officials as well as facilities like insurance, kits and other support.
Earlier, NSC had announced to include 24 sports in the Sixth National Games.
NSC has demanded Rs 268.2 million for conducting the National Games in the far-western region. "We have asked Rs 48.8 million for the maintenance of grounds, track and the stand at different venues while Rs 219.4 million is for conducting the tournament itself. We have already received Rs 130 million and the government has assured that it would provide the remaining amount," said Lama.
"As youth and sports minister, I´ve talked to the finance minister and he has asked us to go ahead," said Kamala Roka, minster for youth and sports.
Besides Rs 268.2million, NSC has demanded Rs 320 million with the government for the development of sports-infrastructure in the far western region.
The AFC Challenge Cup scheduled to be held in Kathmandu will begin on March 3, a day before the completion of the National Games. "All Nepal Football Association is yet to give information about the tournament schedule of the AFC Challenge Cup to the NSC and if they officially write to us, we can rethink the schedule of the National Games," said Member Secretary Lama.
