Six modern maternity service building in Jajarkot with Japanese financial support

JAJARKOT, April 12: Six modern maternity service buildings have been constructed in remote villages in Jajarkot district with the financial support of Japan. The buildings were constructed at Arcchani, Dhime, Jhapra, Suwanauli, Punma and Salma VDCs of the district.

It new infrastructure is expected to ensure that pregnant women get safe maternity services. The maternity buildings were constructed through Reproductive Health Improvement Project with the support of ADRA Japan/Nepal at the initiative of Jajarkot chapter of the Safe Motherhood Network, Federation-Nepal.


The maternity service buildings have become very essential for the security of mother and infant in remote areas such building are equipped with required medical appliances. It is thus expected to bring down the maternal mortality rate, which was high in the past.

The Japanese government had provided financial support of Rs 24 million to construct the modern maternity buildings.

ADRA Japan Project Chief Mai Ogawa said that modern maternity service buildings were constructed with an objective of providing maternity services to expecting mothers in remote areas. RSS
