CHITWAN, March 6: Tharus protesting the categorization of their community as Madhesi group have agreed to hold their protests in a peaceful manner from Saturday.
In an emergency all-party meeting at the district administration office on Friday following an upsurge in violence in Ratnanagar Municipality, the participants reached an agreement to continue the protests, albeit in a peaceful manner. [break]

The district administration lifted the curfew from 12 a.m. Saturday. The curfew was imposed from 10 a.m. Friday.
According to chief district officer, Ratna Raj Pandey, the meeting agreed to provide free treatment to the injured protestors, pressurize the government to provide compensation to the family of the dead and recommend to the government to declare the two dead protestors as martyrs.
Representatives of protesting Tharu groups, various political parties, members of parliament, officials from the district administration and chiefs of security agencies took part in the meeting.
The Armed Police Force man who was killed in a khukuri (machete) attack by protestors earlier in the day has been identified as Kumar Budhathoki. He was from APF´s Gadhimai Battalion, Bhandara.
Another APF man, Prakash KC is injured. KC has been taken to Kathmandu after a brief treatment at Bharatpur Hospital.
