A Sita Air Dornier 9N-NHB, which was carrying seven passengers, crash landed in Simikot airport at around 7.10 am in the morning. The plane had taken off for Humla from Nepalgunj, according to Civil Aviation Office in Jumla. [break]
Tek Bahadur Patali, chief of the Simikot Airport, informed that the plane crashed after its left wing tilted and touched the runway while landing. Both the wings and the body of the aircraft have been damaged in the incident.
All seven people including five passengers and two crew members -- Captain Kiran Bhattarai and Co-pilot Deepak Shah -- are said to be unhurt.
A joint rescue team of Nepal police and Nepali Army had reached the airport immediately after the accident.
The Simikot Airport has been closed till the plane is removed from the runway. Patali said only helicopters can land at the airport till the damaged plane is removed. All flights to and from the airport has been cancelled after the accident.
