Seven day remand for Manangey

KATHMANDU, April 11: Deepak Manangey, one of the most notorious gangsters of the country, was on Thursday sent to seven days in custody for investigation into a check bounce case against him.

Kathmandu District Administration Office sent him to him to custody till April 17, said DSP Ramesh Kumar Basnet of Metropolitan Police Range Office, Hanumandhoka. Manangey had issued a check worth Rs 2.5 million against one Raj Nath Upadhayaya. [break]

Upadhyaya had filed a complaint against Manangey after the check bounced. According to the police, Upadhyaya has expressed concern over his safety following Manangey´s arrest.

Manangey in the police watch list after an investigation by Central Investigation Bureau found that he had accumulated properties worth more than Rs 10 million through illegal means.
