GAUR, June 10: The government-run schools in Rautahat have been closed for the next five days due to a strike announced by the teachers appointed under the Per Child Fund (PCF), Monday. [break]

The agitating PCF teachers, who had put forth a charter of eight-point demands, have announced the closure of schools beginning Monday. Around 300,000 children have been forced to stay at home.

Remuneration as per teacher, removal of age-limit for PCF teachers in the Teachers´ Service Commission and management of insurance of PCF teachers are among other demands put forth by the PCF Teachers Struggle Committee. PCF teachers across the country have been staging a sit-in protest in front of the respective district education offices since May 28 with a view to exerting pressure on the government to address their demand.
