A division bench of Justices Kalyan Shrestha and Prakash Wasti ordered the corporation not to implement the decision until the apex court´s final verdict on the issue. The SC stated that the decision was not in accordance with the existing law.[break]
A single bench of Justice Shrestha on last Sunday had issued a show cause notice against the corporation´s decision to remove Sitaram Agrahari as the editor-in-chief.
Agrahari had moved the court on April 17 challenging the decision.
Officiating General Manager of Gorthapatra Corporation Kapil Ghimire on April 16 had removed Agrahari from the post and appointed junior executive editor of The Rising Nepal Pushkar Mathema, a 10th level staffer, as the officiating editor-in-chief of Gorkhapatra daily.
Agrahari, an 11th level staffer, is deputed to Madhuparka magazine, a sister publication. As per the bylaw related to Gorthapatra Corporation, any official cannot be deputed to a post lower than his/her rank in the corporation
