Rupee lost 14 paisa to close at 100.30 against US dollar on Friday. Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), the central regulatory bank, had opened currency trading on Sunday with value of dollar fixed at Rs 100.16.Though rupee's value remained unchanged on Monday, it lost 42 paisa to close at 100.58 against the dollar on Tuesday. The local currency gained 28 paisa on Wednesday to settle at 100.30. Rupee's value remained unchanged on Thursday and Friday to close the week at 100.30 against US dollar.
According to Reuters, Indian bonds rose for a fifth consecutive quarter on Tuesday, while the Indian rupee posted its first gain in four days, on optimism sparked by the country's economic outlook and rate cuts delivered by the central bank, but analysts warned momentum could wane.
Meanwhile, rupee gained 12 paisa against euro and 63 paisa against Pound Sterling over the week. A euro was exchanged at Rs 108.56 on Friday, while the Pound Sterling was valued Rs 148.70.
Bullion
Gold price remained unchanged this week at Rs 44,240 per 10 grams. The bullion market opened on Sunday with price of gold fixed at Rs 44,240 per 10 grams. Though the price of yellow metal remained unchanged on Monday, it came down by Rs 430 per 10 grams on Tuesday to close at Rs 43,810. Gold price further increased by Rs 130 per 10 grams on Wednesday to settle at Rs 43,940. On Thursday, price of gold went up by Rs 300 per 10 grams to Rs 44,240. Price of yellow metal remained unchanged on Friday to close the week's trading at Rs 44,240 per 10 grams.
Similarly, silver price came down by Rs 4.5 per 10 grams over the week. Silver was traded at Rs 613 per 10 grams on Friday.
