Four people who were stealing newspapers attacked Prasai knocking him unconscious.
Following the attack, the newspapers were not distributed in Birtamod on Thursday.
Prasai, who was taken to a hospital following the attack, regained consciousness only after two hours. Police have arrested one Ganga Nepal in connection with the attack.
According to Arjun Giri, a newspaper retailer, the four were found to have been stealing newspapers when an inspection was conducted following complaints from subscribers that newspaper delivery to them had become irregular.
