Remittance crosses $1.34b

KATHMANDU, March 10: Despite deepening economic gloom and subsequent losses of jobs for Nepalis working overseas, the volume of remittance income by mid-February has crossed Rs 100 billion, a 67 percent increase than what was seen during the same period last year. [break]







According to Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) figures, the total remittance inflows during the seven months of the current fiscal year was Rs 100.7 billion whereas it was Rs 60 billion during like period last year. In dollar terms, Nepal received US$ 1.34 billion worth of remittances during the period and the amount was 42.38 percent higher compared to same period last year.
