Responding to a query on fake VAT invoice racket, Minister Pun said the government has intensified investigation against the racket. “We can´t disclose the names of wrongdoers right now. But we will disclose their names at appropriate time and take action against them,” he added.
Minister Pun also informed that the government would endorse the annual budget for fiscal year 2011/12 by September-end. “Major political parties have already forged consensus to endorse the budget. We will endorse it by the end of this month,” Pun said, adding that the government has already started facing problems due to delay in endorsement of the budget.
Referring to arrest of traders involved in selling sub-standard food items, Pun promised stern action against individuals and business firms involved in food adulteration. “No one has the right to play with consumers´ health. It is a serious crime,” added Pun.
He also said the government will continue market monitoring by putting in place special mechanisms.
The Finance Minister also said the government aims to achieve double digit growth by creating investment-friendly climate in the country. He also informed that the government would soon form a labor coordination committee to look into labor issues.
