KATHMANDU, June 19: The police have brought Jyoti Bahadur Bhandari, an accused involved in the misappropriation of funds from Miteri Savings and Credit Co-Operative Ltd, from Cambodia to Kathmandu on Wednesday at 10 pm.
According to police, he was arrested in Cambodia with the help of the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) and brought to Kathmandu.

A Red Notice was issued against Bhandari by the National Central Bureau (NCB), Nepal. Nepal Police officials had gone to Cambodia to bring him back and brought to Kathmandu via a Singapore Airlines flight. He was arrested on charges of violating Cambodian law. Upon receiving information about his arrest, correspondence was made through INTERPOL to bring him to Nepal.
The Central Investigation Bureau of the police is investigating Jyoti Bhandari for misappropriation of funds from Miteri Savings, which operates in Mahalaxmisthan, Lalitpur Metropolitan City-5. Preliminary police investigations show that Bhandari, originally from Bardiya, misappropriated Rs 34.4 million from the cooperative.
The police are also investigating Nepali Congress Vice President Dhanraj Gurung and his ex-wife Jyoti Gurung for their involvement in the misappropriation of funds from the cooperative.
