KATHMANDU, July 5: The parliamentary special committee formed to investigate the embezzlement of funds in various cooperative institutions conducted a session with the Home Secretary, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), and the Chief of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) to address the misappropriation of cooperative funds.
During this session, Home Secretary Eak Narayan Aryal, IGP Basanta Kunwar, and CIB Chief Shyama Lal Gyawali were briefed on the complaints regarding the cooperative fraud and the current status of the investigation.
Previously, the committee had summoned the directors of the cooperative to provide statements and ensure their cooperation in the investigation. On Thursday, the committee also held discussions with Auditor General Toyam Rai, Head of the Department of Money Laundering Investigation Kamal Prasad Bhattarai, and Registrar of the Department of Cooperatives Pitambar Ghimire.
