KAPILVASTU, March 24: Authorities have lifted the curfew imposed in Kapilvastu following days of tension triggered by a clash between two communities.
The District Administration Office announced that the prohibitory order was lifted from 9 am Tuesday after the situation gradually returned to normal. The curfew had been enforced since Saturday afternoon in parts of Maharajgunj Municipality after unrest broke out in Ward-2, Bargada village.
The restriction was later extended to areas of Kapilvastu Municipality, Mayadevi, and Shuddhodan rural municipalities, banning gatherings, protests, and public demonstrations. Officials said the decision to lift the order was taken to ease daily life as security conditions improved.

Tension had escalated in the southern part of the district following a dispute between two communities on March 21. Since Monday evening, the situation has reportedly stabilised, allowing normal life to resume.
Meanwhile, police have filed a case against six individuals accused of vandalising the Kali Temple in Bargada. The accused have been identified as Salman Khan Pathan, Mehtan Ahmad Dhuniya, Abdul Akhtar Khan, Azmat Ali Musalman, Rahat Hussain Musalman, and Mahammad Hussain Musalman.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Ripendra Kumar Singh said legal proceedings have been initiated against those arrested.
