KATHMANDU, Oct 14: Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula on Sunday claimed that President Dr Ram Baran Yadav will take a decision to form a new government if the political parties fail to forge consensus by mid-November.

Addressing an interaction at the Reporters´ Club in the capital, Sitaula said the president as the protector of the constitution will be forced to take the decision if the parties fail to reach consensus by then. [break]

"There will be a new government by mid-November even if there is no consensus among the parties. The country cannot be held a hostage of indecision for long," he said. "The president has already said that he would not remain a mute spectator if the parties fail to find an outlet to the current deadlock."

Sitaula also argued that NC would not fall prey to the Maoists strategy to revive the dissolved CA. He said Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal was conspiring against fresh election and promulgation of the new constitution.

Sitaula also criticized Dahal for shifting his position.

Sitaula also argued that all the parties should be ready to hold fresh CA election in April next year.

He said talks among other parties will now focus on forming a national consensus government, announcing fresh date for CA polls and necessary amending the interim constitution and other related laws for holding the election.
