KATHMANDU, May 19: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) on Tuesday announced that it would reduce the load-shedding hours to eight hours daily starting Wednesday. At present there is a 12-hour per day load-shedding in place.
According to Sher Singh Bhat, chief of NEA´s Systems Operations Department, there will be continuous eight hours of power cut for two days and four hours each in the mornings and evenings in the remaining five days.
He said the load shedding hour was reduced in the wake of increased water level in the rivers. There is a demand of 780 megawatt power during peak hour in the evening while it is between 450 to 500 mega watts during day time.
