KATHMANDU, Dec 12: Nepali Congress (NC) Vice President Ram Chandra Poudel on Saturday said the Maoists were trying to challenge the relevance of Constituent Assembly (CA) by declaring autonomous states. Addressing a function organized by Nepal Trade Union Congress in the capital, Poudel said the Maoists had ´trampled´ on the CA by raising ´ethnic slogans´. “The Maoists, desperate after quitting the government, have started instigating its cadres by raising ethnic slogans,” said Poudel. “Ethnic politics will give birth to authoritarianism.” Referring to recent remarks of Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal that there were conspiracies to assassinate Maoist leaders, Poudel said it was nothing but the symptom of his mental disorder.
