According to a team of police investigating into the incident, a group of hooligans from Kathmandu had mobilized carders of various political parties in Butwal and razed seven houses and two under-construction buildings in Butwal Municipality-7 using three bulldozers.[break]
The main reason behind the incident is learned to be an ownership row over land worth millions, alongside Nepalgunj Road, the main thoroughfare.
The gang of hoodlums had forced the people from the houses at gunpoint and razed the houses at midnight on Friday.
"Our preliminary investigation has revealed that carders of various political parties had demolished the houses at the behest of Thaneshwar Thapa. The group was led by one Shree Bahadur Tamang of Kathmandu," said a police officer of the investigation team. He also said that all those involved will be arrested soon.
Likewise, DSP Rajkumar Baidawar informed that a special police team is searching for the ruffians.
Meanwhile, Lumbini Zonal Police Office (LZPO) has formed a three-member investigation committee led by DSP Kusal Purush Dhakal to investigate into the incident.
SSP Mingmar Tamang, chief of the LZPO, said the investigation team will submit its report within a week.
Among those involved, police have arrested Suman Lama and seized two of the three dozers used in the demolition. Along with the dozer driver and assistant driver, six persons have been detained.
However, another dozer operator Madhu Parajuli is absconding.
