The prime minister at a meeting with the government secretaries on Monday instructed the top bureaucrats to expedite work on priority projects including 456 MW Upper Tamakoshi, 750 MW West Seti, 60 MW Trishuli-3A and 600 MW Budhi Gandaki hydropower projects and some transmission lines with a view to resolve the power crisis.
He directed the Ministry of Tourism to conclude the process of procuring two aircraft for international flights and six other airplanes for domestic flights soon. Similarly, he instructed the top officials to work for bringing Birgunj Sugar Mills and Hetauda Textile Industries, which have remained closed for years, into operation.
On the health sector, the prime minister instructed the concerned authorities to make sure that the medicines meant for free distribution are stamped "free".
"With a view to avoid road accidents, it is instructed to keep traffic signals in good condition, prohibit travel on the roofs of buses and to give orientation to drivers and their helps on behavioral matters," said a statement issued by the prime minister´s office on Monday. "Also, the concerned authorities are instructed to make sure that VDC secretaries are available at all VDC offices."

Other instructions include ensuring regular market inspection, discouraging involvement of middlemen in food and vegetable markets and controlling price hike of daily consumer items.
On social security, the prime minister directed bureaucrats to distribute identity cards to the poor and increase the social security allowance by 50 percent for the poor and decrease the allowance eligibility age from 70 years to 65 years.
