KATHMANDU, July 9: Prime Minister Balendra Shah has assured construction entrepreneurs that the government is committed to addressing the challenges facing the construction sector.
During a meeting with representatives of the Federation of Contractors' Associations of Nepal at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on Thursday, Shah said the construction industry is a key driver of economic growth, employment generation and infrastructure development.

He stressed the need for closer cooperation among the government, the private sector and other stakeholders to make the construction industry more transparent, accountable and results-oriented, while ensuring the timely completion of development projects.
Federation officials raised concerns over delayed payments, contract extensions, procurement management, project implementation, price adjustment, and banking and investment-related issues affecting the sector.
They also urged the government to introduce policy and practical reforms and strengthen public-private collaboration to revive the construction industry.
