KATHMANDU, Aug 14: In order to address the demands of the agitating contractors, a six-member task force has been formed under the coordination of Public Procurement Monitoring Office Secretary Dr Damodar Regmi. The joint secretaries of the line ministries are the members of the task force.


Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal said he was serious about addressing several demands of the contractors. The Prime Minister has directed the Ministry of Finance and other line ministries to promptly address the demands, including payment of completed works and Value Added Tax on mutual coordination, according to the Spokesperson for the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Narayan Prasad Bhatta.

The task force is mandated to submit the report within 15 days after conducting necessary consultations and coordination with different stakeholders.


The task force comprises representatives from the ministries of finance, physical infrastructure and urban development, among others.


The contractors have been voicing concerns over the issue of non-payment for the projects they have already completed.
