The political parties have raised serious questions about financial transparency in NSC. [break]
The parties submitted a six-point letter of memorandum to the prime minister and sports minister through the chief district officer on Tuesday. They have warned of stringent protests if their demands are not met by Thursday.
The memorandum was submitted after an all-party meeting at the CPN-UML office, said Dirgha Sodari, Kailali district secretary of CPN-UML. UCPN (Maoist) did not attend the meeting.
Meanwhile, nine student unions have announced a protest program demanding that NSC´s financial transactions be made public.
The parties have also demanded formation of a probe committee to check the quality of infrastructure constructed for the National Games saying it was done in a hurry and not in accordance with the master plan. They have also claimed that players have not received allowances and facilities from the government.
The Sixth National Games will be held from February 26-March 4 in Kailali and Kanchanpur districts.
