Over a dozen activists arrested from Maitighar as police beef up security

Earlier,  certain groups of Gen Z had announced to organise a protest today to mark one month of the September 8 and 9 protest.

KATHMANDU, Oct 9: Police have taken control of over a dozen activists including Dr Nicholas Bhusal from Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu.



Bhusal, who had reached Maitighar for a demonstration on Thursday, was immediately taken under control by the police. The police are taking control of those coming for the demonstration. Earlier, a  youngster named SP Sah was arrested from Maitighar today.

Police informed that around 16 such young activists were arrested by Thursday noon.


A large number of security personnel have been mobilized in and around Maitighar in view of the potential security threat. Earlier,  certain groups of Gen Z had announced to organise a protest today to mark one month of the September 8 and 9 protest. 


Majority of Gen Z leaders had later renounced the call and urged everyone to refrain from such gathering as it could lead to violence.
