GORKHA, Oct 24: The face-off between two senior leaders Baburam Bhattarai and Narayankaji Shrestha in Gorkha constituency-2 is considered one of the highly intense contests of the upcoming parliamentary elections.
Keeping in mind the possibility of clash and chaos, the authorities concerned have listed nearly 50 polling centers in the constituency as highly sensitive and are preparing to beef up the security there.

The District Security Committee is preparing to adopt high security alerts to secure the ballot boxes and avoid mishaps in those polling centers. The committee said they are formulating strategies to contain unhealthy competition between the candidates, potential clashes and problems that may arise due to difficult topography.
“As a former Prime Minister and a former Deputy Prime Minister are contesting against each other in Gorkha-2, we have taken the constituency as being highly sensitive,” said Jitendra Basnet, Chief District Officer (CDO) of Gorkha. “We have to make the security situation better than in the local elections as two senior leaders are contesting from this constituency,” he added.
The two constituencies in the district have a total of 213 polling centers. Of them, 68 polling centers are considered highly sensitive while 133 polling centers are considered sensitive and the remaining 12 polling centers are considered normal, informed the CDO.
At least 20 security personnel will be deployed at polling centers considered highly sensitive. Armed Police Force (APF) will be available within 15-20 minutes when called for. Likewise, Nepal Army would also be mobilized in the outer ring of the security arrangement.
