As many as 27 Madhesi lawmakers including UCPN (Maoist) lawmaker Prabhu Sah and UML lawmaker Rajya Laxmi Golchha boycotted the voting process.
According to the statistics maintained at the CA secretariat, of the total 42 Tharu lawmakers, 29 took part in the voting while only 13 lawmakers boycotted the voting process.
Those boycotting the voting are Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar, Kalpana Chaudhari, Janak Raj Chaudhari, Yogendra Chaudhary, Ram Janam Chaudhari, Sumitra Chaudhari, Kedar Nandan Chaudhari, Mina Chaudhari, Rukmini Chaudhari, Gopal Dahit and Ganga Chaudhari.
The record shows that those lawmakers boycotting the process are not only Madhesi lawmakers.
Lawmakers from other community also boycotted the CA process. Four lawmakers from Brahmin community have also boycotted the CA process. They are Baburam Pokharel, Subodh Pokharel, Gita Timalsina and Chhayan Devi Sharma Pant. Remaining 1 hundred 15 lawmakers had participated in the voting process.
Similarly, of the total 17 lawmakers from Muslim community, only 3 boycotted the CA process. Those boycotting the process are Akbal Ahammad Sah, Mohammad Mustafa, Alam and Kashim Ali Siddiqui. Other 14 lawmakers had participated in the voting process.
Of the total 40 lawmakers from Dalit community, 38 had participated in the voting process. Bishwendra Paswan and DB Nepali did not turn up in the process.
Of the total 20 lawmakers belonging to backward region, 1 lawmaker remained absent while only Ashok Rai boycotted CA process out of the total 120 lawmakers representing Adibasi/Janajati community.
11 lawmakers from 22 districts in the Tarai region that has 120 constituencies have boycotted the voting process.
Gachchhadar (Morang), Ram Janam (Kailali), Janak Raj (Kailali), Mustaf Alam (Rautahat-2), Upendra Yadav (Morang), Mahendra Yadav (Sarlahi-3), Brijesh Kumar Gupta (Kapilvastu), Abhishek Pratap Sah (Kapilvastu), Jangi Lal Raya Yadav (Sarlahi), Kamaleshwar Puri Goshwami, Sanjaya Kumar Sah (Dhanusha-3) (now in Jail) had been elected to the CA through the first past the post system while the remaining 50 lawmakers were elected through proportional representation.
Of those 61 lawmakers boycotting the CA process, Rajendra Mahato, six lawmakers from Sadbhawana Party had already resigned as CA members. The remaining 55 lawmakers took part in the CA. Similarly, six lawmakers belonging to Dashnami also took part in the CA process.
