LAHAN, June 11: Senior leader of CPN-UML KP Sharma Oli on Friday ruled out the possibility of forming a national consensus government under Maoist leadership.

Addressing a Sagarmatha Zonal Orientation Program to party cadres in Lahan, Oli said that there is no possibility of forging consensus on a Maoist-led government as the party has failed to renounce the path of violence.

Oli alleged that Maoists intend to capture state powers as they are concerned only on government, leaving aside the agenda of constitution drafting.

“The Maoists have not renounced violence as per the agreement. Nor have they followed constitutional process and renounced the instruments of violence,” he said.

“How can we hand over the state powers to the Maoists if the party does not believe in civilian politics? How can there be consensus when the Maoists neither abide by the past agreements nor to agree on settling the issue of combatant management?” he asked.
