Offline version of Smart School launched

KATHMANDU, April 16: Kul Techno Lab and Research Center on Wednesday launched the offline version of Smart School which is available in DVD.

Kul Lab Smart School is a free teaching-learning tool for students of class 9 and 10 and is accessible through their website.


According to Sushil Dev Bhattarai, co-founder and chairman of Kul Labs, students will get notes for every subject, with video tutorial, from kullabs.com. "Students can create study groups and join an educational network with the website. Additionally, they can complete their project works, make study plan, download notes and practice tests, connect with their teachers and share notes and study materials through the website."

Furthermore, teachers can prepare lesson plans, upload notes, assign homework and project work for students, give online exams and prepare exam questions from the question bank available as well as download and share notes.

The company said that with "Smart School", they have attempted to change the conventional method of teaching where books are considered the primary source of information. The software reduces the dependence on books for information, therefore reducing the quality gap in education that exists between private and public schools.

Now, all these contents will be available in DVD for Rs 2,250.

Speaking at the launching program, Ganesh Shah, former Minister of Science, Technology and Environment, stated that in the digital age, schools and colleges should focus on creative and innovative methods of teaching, equipping students with practical knowledge and the qualities of entrepreneurship.

"At present, both the online and offline versions of the software are available for Science, Social studies, Computer Science and Environment, Health and Population," said Amit Joshi, chief technology officer of Kul Labs.
