Krishna Suppliers Pvt Ltd, a private company in association with Kathmandu Metropolitan City has initiated its installation. This program falls under the local government’s Public-Private Partnership Division. For the first phase, 70 such smart dustbins will be installed at different places in Kathmandu and Lalitpur. Each dustbin costs around Rs 600,000. Currently, these are placed at Maitighar Mandala, Bijuli Bazaar, Baneshwar, Koteshwar, Gaushala, Chabahil among other places.
According to Harish Agrawal, director of Krishna Suppliers Pvt Ltd, they have installed around 45 smart dustbins, serving more than its name. This smart dustbin is solar powered with cell phone charging plugs for emergency use. And soon it will also provide free Wi-Fi up to 5 meters distance for half an hour a day. Moreover, the middle part of this smart dustbin is meant for displaying advertisements.
Speaking about free Wi-Fi through smart dustbin, Agrawal shared, “We are in the process to install Wi-Fi and we are approaching different Wi-Fi providing companies for the same.”
