KATHMANDU, Sept 23: The Federal Democratic Republican Alliance (FDRA), an alliance of 21 parties including ruling UCPN (Maoist) and United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF), has concluded that political parties should forge consensus on all issues in a package before a national consensus government is formed.

An FRDA meeting held at New Baneshwar on Saturday stated that the country cannot move ahead by dealing with issues one at a time. [break]

"There is no meaning to form a new government without forging consensus on all issues in a package. How can we go for polls without consensus on issues related to election," FDRA spokesman Prem Bahadur Singh said.

He stated that FDRA is open to all options for ending the current constitutional impasse.

"Though some political parties have said that talks on CA revival are over, we are also ready for that if contentious issues of new constitution are resolved," Singh added.

The meeting also concluded that political parties should settle all issues related election before going for fresh CA polls.

"Issues such as delineation of the number of electoral constituencies on the basis of the recent census, number of CA members and election date should be finalized," he said, adding, "Parties should also forge consensus on how to remove constitutional difficulties in the absence of parliament."

Similarly, the meeting decided to organize mass gatherings in five major cities of the country in order to inform the people about the current political situation.

According to Vice-Chairman of Sadbhawana Party Laxman Lal Karna, who was present at the meeting, mass gatherings of FDRA will be organized in Biratnagar on October 3, Janakpur on October 5, Nepalgunj on October 7, Pokhara on October 9 and in Kathmandu on October 12.

Singh said that UCPN (Maoist) will coordinate the gatherings in Biratnagar, Pokhara and Nepalgunj, UDMF will coordinate the gathering in Janakpur and all members of the alliance will coordinate the Kathmandu gathering.

The meeting was held at the FDRA´s new office at New Baneshwor.
