BIRATNAGAR, Sept 25: Nepali Congress (NC) senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba on Tuesday claimed that there is no dispute in the party over nomination of its prime ministerial candidate for a new government.

Talking to media persons at Biratnagar Airport, Deuba said the party would name its prime ministerial candidate at an opportune time. "There is no conflict within NC over the prime ministerial candidate. We will pick the prime ministerial candidate when the times come," he said. [break]

Deuba´s remark has come at a time when party president Sushil Koirala has kept mum about whether he would support party Vice-president Ram Chandra Paudel or Deuba.

On the occasion, Deuba also expressed surprise over the ruling parties taking to the streets. “Nowhere in the world have I heard of the ruling parties taking to the streets," he said, adding that this was the height of deception. Deuba, who was on his way to Udayapur to attend a function organized by NC, said that such a move on the part of the ruling parties would create difficulties for the country.

He also said that the protest programs the opposition parties are planning to launch after Thursday was aimed at ousting Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai.
