The agreement was signed by Chief Executive Officer of NMB Bank Upendra Poudel and Bhim Prasad Sherchan, Chairman of Manakanama Money Exchange, amid a function organized here on Friday. Since remittances have been playing a key role in the GDP, the newly-inked agreement will help expand remittance-related services throughout the country, thereby helping to accelerate economic development, says a press statement issued at the signing ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, CEO of NMB Bank Poudel urged the government agency concerned to be alert against the possible impact of the global financial crisis on the domestic economy and said the government should launch an in-depth study on how the state can minimize the looming negative impact.

Similarly, Chairman of Manakamana Money Exchange Sherchan said the new agreement will help focus on expediting swift delivery of remittance-related services to the rural masses. He also informed the gathering that the money exchange will soon start handling remittances from various cities.
