New Road to host 'Mobile Carnival 2015' from Saturday

KATHMANDU, April 10: Targeting the Bikram Sambat calendar New Year's Day, Pako Youth Club (PYC) is holding Mobile Carnival 2015 -- a festival dedicated to showcasing mobile devices -- in New Road from Saturday.

The organizers said at a press conference on Thursday that the four-day event was a first-of-its-kind and aimed to develop New Road as the hub for mobile devices sales and services in the country. The event will have participation of every mobile devices retailer, company and entrepreneurs from around New Road and the Tamrakar Complex area, the organizers said.


The organizers say the carnival will run across 200 mobile phone shops offering devices from over 25 mobile phone brands available in the area.

Samsung, Huawei, Colors, Sony, Micromax, Nokia, Apple, Gionee, HTC, Blackberry, Panasonic, BQ, and Videocon, among others, are the participating mobile phone brands.

The event will be the biggest ever held in the country in terms of participation of exhibitors, the organizers said. "The discount packages we will be offering will worth Rs 10 million in total during the event."

The discount packages range from cash discount, scholarship and gift hampers to SLC appeared students through lucky draw to, among others, 50 smartphone handsets free to mobile phone buyers through lucky draws.

Organizers expect to draw around 1 million spectators during the event.
