KATHMANDU: Nepali women´s national football team thrashed Qatar women´s national team 6-0 in their first friendly match played at the Al Arabi stadium in Doha on Thursday evening.
Sajana Rana scored a brace for Nepal and Anu Lama, Niru Thapa, Chandra Bhandari and Pramila Rai added a goal each. Rana put Nepal ahead in the 12th minute and Anu Lama beat three Qatari defenders and the goalkeeper to double the lead in the 27th. [break]
Thapa netted Nepal´s third goal on the half-hour mark. Sajana Rana scored her second and Nepal´s fourth goal before setting up the fifth for skipper Bhandari in the 66th minute.
Rai added a sixth in the 71st minute to seal an emphatic victory. Nepal will play its second friendly match against Qatar on Saturday evening at the same stadium.
