Nepal marks 34th WTD amid fanfare

KATHMANDU, Sept. 27: Three tourists who came to Nepal Friday morning were honored at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on the occasion of the World Tourism Day.



Gifts were also provided to them as they landed at the airport. The honoured tourists are Miriam Mahaer and Mohar Mahaer of Israel and Henrick Nilshon of Sweden. [break]



According to Office Secretary of the Tourism Service Association, Ramsharan Adhikari, idols of Lord Buddha were presented to the tourists.



Before this, a morning rally with cultural procession with banners and placards was organized at the joint initiative of different 37 tourism entrepreneurs´ organizations to create public awareness towards tourism.



The rally started from Thamel and concluded at Basantapur after going through Durbar Marg, Ratna Park and New Road.



Various programs have been organized for a week to observe the 34th World Tourism Day under the slogan "Tourism and Water: Protecting Our Common Future."
