KATHMANDU: Nepal entered the semifinals of the ACC U-19 Women´s Championship beating Kuwait by four wickets in its third match at Gymkhana in Chiang Mai, Thailand on Tuesday. Nepal bowled superbly to bundle Kuwait out for 36 in 15 overs to lay foundation for semifinal entry. [break]

Rekha Rawal was the wrecker-in-chief taking three wickets in four overs conceding just seven runs. She was well supported by Sonu Khadka and Keshari Chaudhary who chipped in with a couple of wickets each while Sita Magar and Trishna Singh also claimed a victim each.

Siobhan Gomez was the only Kuwaiti batswoman to reach double figures scoring 18 off 25 deliveries with a boundary.

In reply, Nepali batswomen made heavy weather of what should have been an easy run chase but skipper Nary Thapa held her nerves to guide Nepal to the semifinals with its fourth consecutive victory.

Nepal made disastrous start losing in-form Maya Rawat, who splendidly guided Nepali chase in the previous two games remaining unbeaten, for an eight-ball duck in the third over and the rest followed her back to the pavilion in a procession.

Sabina Karki (4 off 14), Trishna Singh (2 off 8), Binu Magar (4 off 18), Sushmita Chaudhary (1 off 10) and Rekha Rawal (2 off 4) all fell cheaply but captain Nary Thapa struck three boundaries in her unbeaten seven-ball knock to see her side home in 12.1 overs in company of Sita Magar (4 off 4).

Man-of-the-match Priyada Murali bowled her heart out returning figures of 5-2-3-3 but could not guide Kuwait to victory. Her new ball partner Siobhan Gomez also bowled through her quota of five overs claiming two wickets to make life miserable for Nepali batswomen but Nepal reached home after completion of their spell.

Nepal will take on China in its fifth and final group match at Prem Oval on Saturday.
