According to NSA President Ashok Bajracharya, the association will select 20 players for the national team from the championship. “We’ll provide training facilities to the selected players in winter also though we don’t have a public pool with heating system,” said Bajracharya.
Bajracharya said that the sponsorship deal with Nepal Ice has encouraged the association to do better. As per the sponsorship deal, Nepal Ice will provide Rs 100,000 cash to NSA and bear another Rs 100,000 for medals, trophies and other ceremonial costs.
“As Nepal Ice is a water brand we are happy to sponsor a sports event related to water,” said AK Dwibedi, senior general manager of Chaudhary Group. “The young generation is less interested in individual and indoor sports events. Rather, they are spending time in computer games. By sponsoring this event, we want to draw the attention of the youth to physical sports like swimming,” he added.
