According to Hatuwal, more than 250 players from Nepal, India, Malaysia, Norway, Australia, England, Canada, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Argentina and Pakistan are confirmed to compete in 27 events including men, women and youth (under-19 and under-23) categories.The International Kabaddi League Championship will be held for the first four days and the World Cup on September 15 provided that the number of qualified teams is confirmed as per the regulations of the World Kabaddi Federation (WKF).
“The event will see Kabaddi played in three styles – national style, circle style kabaddi and beach kabaddi,” Hatuwal said. “The event is being held with an official slogan – Play Kabaddi for Peace and Harmony.”
The event will be held at the Army Ground.
Along with the event, Technical and Coaching Course will be held from September 11 to 14 while the WKF Annual General Meeting will be held on September 14.
There are 32 member nations in the World Kabaddi Federation and the federation is lobbying for increase in membership to include the sports in the Olympics, Hatuwal added.
The estimated budget for the event is Rs. 10 million.
