LISBON, Feb 24: Government has established a residential embassy of Nepal for the first time in Portugal. A team of officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has started providing services after the establishment of the embassy in the capital city, Lisbon, since Friday.
The Embassy of Nepal in Lisbon, in collaboration with the Embassy of Nepal in France, has started providing consular services related to the verification of necessary documents including the 'consular' services by operating a mobile service. The embassy said it has started providing services by operating a temporary office in Alcântara, Lisbon.
Charge d' Affaires of Nepal to Portugal, Ram Babu Nepal, told state-owned RSS that the Embassy of Nepal in Lisbon has started providing essential services related to passport and other documents by operating mobile service camp for the time being to facilitate Nepalis facing problems related to document verification.
According to the Embassy, a mobile service, which began on Friday, has started the service of verifying about 200 documents including police character certificate (police report).
During the camp period, the Embassy will provide consular services related to verification of police character certificates, relation verification certificates, birth registration, marriage registration and other documents other than the verification of power of attorney.
Stating that the Nepali Embassy in Lisbon would provide all services as soon as possible, he urged the Nepalis living in Portugal to be patient as it would take some time.
